Politics and Religion

.

Gauging from the views from both, Christians and non-Christians, the game of politics and its players attract a fraction of modern-day society. Sadly politics has been declared a no-go-area by some religions for reasons better known to themselves and not in the bible. One could almost turn a blind eye to the narrow-minded stance adopted by religious groups if we were to look only at politicians but we have the bible to help us draft Christian policies, not the behaviour of men?

Understandably, modern-day society has seen an adulterated breed of politicians that seem to have no regard for biblically based morals. Reviewing our history as mankind dating back to a few centuries B.C, we are blinded by an upsurge of political leaders who strayed from the orthodox theistic kind of governance or at least from the Christian perspective. Theocracy diminished in the prospect of philosophy which brought about democracy which in contemporary times is the order of the day.

It is well to object to the apostasies in modern-day politics and politicians however the business of governing remains the business of God. Many suggest that God is not involved in governance but as the bible illustrates, God has always been involved in governance in-fact God is the originator of governance. The very first governor of mankind is Adam given the ultimate mandate by God to “have dominion” over earth. After the chosen nation insisted on having a king also, God insisted that he be the one to approve of that king and the politics at play be according to his precepts. Regrettably, human kind deviated from this divine protocol and effectively contaminated the course of governance and politics.

That man has fallen short of the qualities, requisite for governance should not delude us to think, that God precludes us from participating in politics and governance. Let us do whatever we can to purify politics reverting to Gods way of governance which is theocracy and not democracy. Remember
South Africa that these are merely fragments of my thoughts.
